You’ve for sure heard the term “Social Networking”. It means connecting with people online. This applies to places such as Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram.
You’ve probably also heard that to do well in business you MUST! be active in some form on social networking.
But does social networking really work?
Even though this is one of the most hyped areas of online marketing today and many are jumping into or already in the arena, few are actually making money from it.
So it doesn’t work?
It actually can work but you have to stay focused. It’s very easy to waste a lot of the day browsing Twitter or Facebook and checking out pretty pictures on Pinterest without getting any real work done.So how do you make Social Network work?
By developing relationships. And one of the best strategies for this is through blogging. Blogging is a very effective way to stay connected with your potential customers.
How do you make money blogging?
There are 2 rules for making money with your blog. Post often and get involved with other people’s blogs. You can’t expect to get interaction on your blog unless you get entrenched in the blogosphere.î
This connection will help you get to know other bloggers and get your name out there.
Once you give useful answers to peoples questions, you can establish yourself as an authority on the topic you are discussing. This will build their trust in you. They then visit your blog and ultimately buy your products.
And search engines LOVE blogs
Why? Because they are constantly getting updated. Usually a regular website just stays static. Not updated often and information just gets old and sate. But a blog is constantly changing. And I’m not just talking about blog posts. If you have a highly trafficked site that gets a lot of discussion, the comments add to the relevancy as well.
What about Twitter?
No discussion on social marketing can be complete without talking about twitter.
Here are some rules for dealing with Twitter.
Rule #1) Don’t get carried away with it
Rule #2) Try tweeting at least once a day. And follow others in your niche. Many will reciprocate and follow you back.
Rule #3) Link to Twitter from your site
Rule #4) Make sure you aren’t constantly promoting yourself. Space your promotions out.
Rule #5) The key to making money from social marketing is to have a plan and stay focused.
