What Business Model Is Right For You?

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

So you have chosen a business niche, and chances are you’re now contemplating your business model. This can feel overwhelming. There are a number of business models to choose from. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages.

Before you decide, consider the following questions:

  1. How much time do you have to devote to your business?

The amount of time you have is critical to your business model decision. For example, if you decide to be provide a service then you’re going to need a lot of time to provide that service. If you only have five hours a week you’re going to have to charge a high premium for your time (and do your best work during that time). Depending on your niche topic that may or may not be possible.

Affiliate marketing, information marketing, and even membership marketing don’t have to consume vast amounts of time. If you’re short on time these models may be a better fit for you.

  1. Do you want customers?

I know this seems like a strange question right? If you’re in business then you’re going to have customers. But that is actually not necessarily the case.  In the case of affiliate marketers they don’t have customers. An affiliate marketer earns a living by promoting the products and services of others. You have website visitors, but no customers to manage or maintain. They are directed to someone else and becomes their customers.

On the other hand a business that sells a product or a servicewill have customers. That includes information marketers and membership marketers.

3. What fits your personality?

Some business models lend themselves to introverts. If you’re shy or prefer to keep to yourself then becoming a service provider might not be the best fit for you. However, affiliate marketing or information marketing can work for you. It is important to pay attention to what business model best fits you. It will make starting and growing your business much easier.

Finally, spend some time considering how you can best solve your customers problems. For example, if you’re going to create a business on the topic of learning to sew you might…

* Create an information product

* Provide information/content and become an affiliate marketer

The business model you choose can then be chosen based on your answer to the questions posed earlier.

Your business model is an essential ingredient to the success and fulfillment you find as an online business owner.

Choosing Your Niche Topic

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

It is no secret that choosing the niche topic for your online business is important.

This is where you’ll stay so you want it to be familiar and comfortable.

Here are three steps to a good niche fit for you…

1. Look to Your Childhood:

When contemplating a niche topic many experts recommend choosing a topic you’re passionate about. For adults, this can be difficult. If you’re struggling to find a topic you’re passionate about, think back to when you were a child. What did you LOVE to do?

For example, did you love the outdoors and digging in the dirt? Bake cookies? Did you love crafts? I know a now young man who was passionate about trucks as a very small child. It stayed with him and he’s turned that niche into a great online business that is helping to put him through college. There are potential online businesses for your childhood passions.

2. Create a List of things to do before…:

Creating this list will give you insight about where your passions and interests are. I want take a gourmet cooking class. I wanted to learn to play piano (I did).  Can’t think of anything else but you get the idea. These are potential niches for me (I’m already doing one).

3. Solve Your Own Problems:

What problems are you struggling with? What answers are you looking for? Chances are other people are looking for those same answers. If you find the answer this can be a great niche for you.

For example, if you’re struggling to clean your home and cook great meals then that could be a potential business niche. Once you find the answers to your questions provide them to your website visitors and customers.

Before you commit to any niche, research that niche for potential profitability. That means studying supply and demand and exploring potential business models.

A good niche has three qualities:

1. You enjoy it

2. It is in demand without too much competition.

3. You can profit from it.

There are tons of potential business niches just waiting to be found and recognized. Don’t fall prey to the myth that all the good niches are gone. They’re not! You can achieve online success and follow your dreams.

Three Benefits to Starting Your Own Online Business

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

Are you thinking about starting your own online business? Are you confused because of all the mixed messages? But there is very little downside to starting your own online business.

It will be work.

It will take some money to get started.

But  in most cases the benefits of an online business far outreach the potential risk and downside.

So what are some of the benefits of starting your own online businesss…

1. Productivity:

When you work for yourself you’re likely going to work much harder than you would for someone else. My sister likes to say, “I’ve never worked so hard for $5 in my life!” We get a good laugh out of that but it’s true. We work hard. But we also have the ability to set your own hours and decide if something is not working for us. This means working  I’m feeling most motivated and productive.

If you’re a morning person than you can get up in the morning and work productively for several hours. Then in the afternoon when your energy lags you can focus on other tasks.

2. Goals:

When you own your own online business the goals you aspire to achieve are your own. You decide what you want to reach for. You also decide how you’re going to achieve your goals and why. You’re the boss from the beginning to the end. That means they can be big or small. Imagine how much more inspiring it is to strive for your own goals rather than someone else’s.

3. On Your own terms:

In your own online business you establish the policies and procedures. You choose the business model and the niche. You decide how far you’re going to go to market your business and who your target market is. In a nutshell, you create the business based on your needs, desires and goals.

There are other notable benefits to starting your own online business too. They include but are certainly not limited to:

* The freedom to work in your pajamas

* Being able to tend to your family or other outside interests without having to ask for your boss for time off.

* Extra income/no limit to how much you can make

* There is no glass ceiling

* Spend your days in a job that you love. And as soon as it’s no longer benefitting you and fun move on.

Sounds great, right? It is. Owning your own online business can be extremely rewarding.
